Kikundi 2.0 Workshop
The first phase of Kikundi was launched with the objective of establishing a strong Community of Practice for African Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTD) Program Managers (PMs). Over the course of 2.5 years, Kikundi has successfully realized this objective, with some notable achievements: establishing a strong Community of Practice for African NTD PMs, guided by PM design preferences; professional development opportunities for PMs; peer to peer learning opportunities for PMs (site visits, conference support); and partnership engagement and advocacy (eg - PMs sitting at the Gates pharmaceutical Ceo roundtable). In order to plan for the second phase, a co-creation workshop was hosted by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) in partnership with the current Kikundi Development Team at the Serene Hotel in Kigali, Rwanda from August 2 - 3, 2023. It convened 14 Kikundi members and other potential stakeholders to identify opportunities to strengthen the Kikundi community of practice and to engage in strategic planning for its next phase, with a focus on further professionalizing this network and transitioning its management to an African organization.
